Beaten Path: A New Tactical RPG for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch

We’re excited to share that Wales Interactive is partnering with Peacebreak Studio to bring Beaten Path to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch in 2027.

Beaten Path is a turn-based tactical RPG set in a world of fallen gods, ancient machines and looping fate. You’ll take command of Panna and her companions as they uncover lost memories, forgotten wars and mythic powers in a character-driven journey inspired by classics like Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem.

Peacebreak Studio, led by developer Jarett, has already built an early community around Beaten Path, including a Kickstarter campaign that was successfully funded in just 6 days. The project stood out to us immediately because of its passion for the tactics genre, its depth of customisation, and the ambition behind its world and characters.

“I started Beaten Path because I wanted to make the kind of tactical RPG I love playing, with meaningful strategy, lots of room for customisation, and a world players can spend time in beyond the battles. It has now been in development for almost five years, and over that time it has grown into something much bigger than I first imagined. The support from the community has meant a lot, and partnering with Wales Interactive is an exciting next step that gives us the chance to bring Beaten Path to more players across PC and consoles. I’m really looking forward to sharing more as development continues.” Jarett Gross, Peacebreak Studio

At its core, Beaten Path is all about strategy, customisation and discovery. Battles play out across grid-based maps where positioning, terrain, height, elemental strengths and weaknesses can turn the tide. Flank enemies to trigger Sync attacks, exploit weaknesses to Break foes, and plan each move through an action point system where every decision matters.

The game also gives players a huge amount of freedom in how they build their party. With 25+ recruitable characters, 250+ abilities, 100+ weapons across 10 weapon classes and a dual job system, every unit can be shaped around your preferred playstyle. Jobs have their own skill trees, stat growth, resistances and vulnerabilities, making party building a major part of the adventure.

Beyond the battlefield, Beaten Path features a fully explorable 3D overworld filled with shifting weather, strange landmarks, narrative events, hidden lore and optional discoveries. You’ll travel across continents, sail by ship, ride horses, uncover secrets and return to The Haven, a hub where allies gather, conversations change and shops offer new ways to strengthen your party.
