Are you a Programmer with a creative flair who’s looking for a chance to make a big positive impact on game and Interactive projects, you could be the perfect fit for this role!
We are looking for an enthusiastic aspiring programmer to join our friendly team on a number of games. You will be working primarily with our Writers Interactive Scripting Tool platform (WIST) and the Unity Engine.
The Junior Programmer position is full time hybrid role, please do not apply if you are looking for a fully remote position or cannot commute to our Cardiff office at this time.
About the Role
As a Unity and WIST Game programmer, you will have the opportunity to take ownership of the project you’re working on as you prototype, build and polish game mechanics and systems.
Your responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Help design, write and implement well-engineered, high quality and reliable code for our games.
Develop and maintain tools and pipelines for WIST scripting and game scripting in general
Debug and troubleshoot WIST scripts and gameplay issues
Ensure the quality and performance of WIST scripts and gameplay elements
Work with the audio and visual teams to integrate WIST scripts with audio and visual assets
Write and maintain documentation for WIST scripting and other programming tasks
Creatively solving any challenges that you may face
Develop gameplay systems and mechanics in Unity Engine
Work with the design team and ensure high quality throughout
Collaboratively work with different teams within Wales Interactive to develop various systems

Requirements
Typescript / Javascript – A must for WIST programming
Strong C# and gameplay programming skills
Knowledge of Unity and experience with game optimisation for all platforms
Experience with video optimisation
Knowledge of programming design patterns for modular and reusable code
Knowledge of debugging tools and build pipelines
Experience with DevOps/CI tools
Strong and effective communication skills
